Since I last blogged in Nov…

Hey all!

Since I last blogged in Nov! I’ve been pretty busy.. I guess I’ve always said the same thing.. Busy… busy… busy…

Well firstly I was pleasantly surprised that I did pretty well for my results for my first semester… Honestly I thought I would have done pretty badly. Thank God I did my part. Only one subject I was really disappointed with but all in a a decent semester.

After the last of my assignments, I started packing stuff from my room! It was a treacherous one as I had heaps of stuff all over! Thank God I had enough boxes! Ultimately I would like to thank all my friends who helped with transporting and accommodating my stuff! Seriously you guys are awesome! Thanks to Doris and Leo too! For having me over to stay for the night at their new place! Which is so nice and cosy! Can’t wait for the house warming!

Flew to Melbourne for a week to catch No Sleep Til, which is probably the biggest festival I’ve been too! Heaps of awesome bands! I’ve a No Sleep Til album right here, for yo guys to check it out! The after party was epic too! Cause I got to meet some of the awesome bands! Wish A Day To Remember was there tho! None the less, meeting the members of Suicide Silence, We Came As Romans and August Burns Red was all ready Epic!!!

Was talking to Scott who flew from Malaysia just for the fest, and we agreed that what would have made NST complete was if Underoath and Amity Afflictions were a part of it! Would have been a show of a lifetime!

All in all.. my 4 months in Australia has been a life learning lesson in so many ways! I am glad that I get a chance to experience this and I thank my parents so much for it!

Love you mum and dad!!

What’s currently playing on my iTunes! / Miri Jazz Fest 2010 promo show!

I guess playing the violin in a band has been a pretty great experience so far with awesome band mates where we can learn and support one another and most importantly have fun!

An Honest Mistake at Elevate Titiwangsa

Since I have been on a exploration adventure from middle last year till today and I’ve been submerging myself into much heavier stuff and deeper waters and it definitely has been rewarding skill wise and also on my music knowledge i mean from 5000 songs to now 15000 songs in the span of almost coming to a year!

These are the bands that have been playing over and over on my playlist, in my car and just chilling at home. If you haven’t heard any of these bands do go and listen to em! they are awesome!

Envy On The Coast

Scary Kids Scaring Kids

Janus

Saosin

Brokenscar

Limp Bizkit

Matt Wertz

Well theses are just some of the artists I’ve been listening to, but these artist definitely got me hooked to lots of awesome new techniques and inspirations in my violin and guitar playing.

Can’t wait for Limp Bizkit’s new album and I just found out that Soasin has parted ways with EMI/Virgin and are now unsigned. Hope that with them going DIY it will unleash more awesome stuff from them with no barriers and no limitations by record labels!

Well… thats all for now! Heading to the studio to jam with an up and coming artist, Diandra who will be playing this coming Friday at Laundry and Saturday at KLCC for the promo show at the Miri Jazz Fest, and I’ll be her secessionist for this weekend!

What a year end to 2009 & beginning of 2010!

Well it seems like ages that I have last blogged! I warn you first! Its a loongggg post! But do bear with me!

Towards to the end of 09, I have been really busy with internship, and as well as that going back gigging from the middle of 09.

Over the course of 09, I have met some awesome new friends along the way as I got back into the gigging scene and what a journey it has been so far and it’s been a blessing to know each and everyone of you. It definitely is going to be an awesome 2010 with you guys! (U know who you are ;p)

performance with EVE band at Artista 30th Dec 09

I have also rekindled my love interest to my violin again! Its been 5 years since I have touched my violin and in Oct 2009 i decided to pick it up again! It is definitely an interesting step for me to take and as well as that finally to get a band going! The band is… Caustic Band!! I have been working on some new materials and got off the mark with writing a few songs, will indeed share it with all of you for its debut! But at the mean time, do add us on our facebook page for updates on our happenings here! Already just passed 100 fans in the course of 5 weeks!

Nearing the end of December, I have been working a lot of my commitment issues and my long strongholds which has haunted me for almost my whole high school life overseas and since coming back to Malaysia in 2005 and present. I have to say, its been a long hard fight and I am glad to say that my strongholds are no longer there and I thank the Dude above who helped me get through this rough patch in my life. Indeed God has been faithful and always been there for me and  my faith in You grows stronger everyday!

Myself and John-Aiden as Caustic band @ Artista 09

As some of you also know, for the month of Jan 2010, I’ll be off the worship team and also taking a “sabbatical” month break of gigging. As I have spoken to my pastors, overseers and my leaders and Jon who has been more than just a leader and a friend but my elder brother to me who watches out for me and gives me advice as well, I am really very thankful for you in my life. Gosh.. just realize I have a John for a brother, and a Jon for my elder brother and leader and John as my good friend and band mate @ Caustic Band. Haha…

Jon Koo & Me @ GT after my baptism!

Well since its a new year I should kick it off with getting my life straight and also to have a greater and better relationship with God and also to live a purpose driven life especially when this year its the year of Favor!!

Before heading into my resolutions for 2010, I would like to shout out some thank yous!

I would like to thank my God, my heavenly Father, my family, my parents and my dear brother who has supported me through the lowest part of my life, 2009 has definitely been a rough year for me and I thank you so much for being there for me every step of the way though the thick and thin and the joyest moments of my life.

My dear peers and buddies and pals, through the hardship I thank you all for the prayers and support and for standing by me through the years, last year has been a real discovery of my own life seeing both the jackal and Hyde in action this year… definitely I have been more of my Hyde and Melancholy side of me in 2009, and I apologize for hurting anyone of you because of my actions and my emotions that was running through me last year. I love all of you and I value our friendship.

To the new friends that I have made in 09. Gosh.. where to start!

Kevin Teh (BrokenScar)!!

Though I met you briefly at CCH’s gig at Laundry some early months of ’09, I have been blessed by your advise and it has been great to keep it touch with you from back here in M’sia to Melb! Your like my Penpal man! haha! You have been a great support and indeed a friend I can look up to and get some wise advise from! haha! Can’t wait to see you in Feb!

Avril & Darren! Gosh! What a journey it has been since i met you guys at Mardigras! Can’t remember when exactly that was but yes it was definately mid last year! It has been a really blessing to get to know you guys and definitely our journey together has just begun! *sounds funny* lol! Yea but its been great and its like I have got to know you guys for so long in like 5 months? You guys feel like family to me *crys with tears of joy* lols! ;p

Joel. Man… you are definitely talented and heard that it only take you a month to pick up the bass! That’s real awesome and you write good songs as well! I just wanna encourage you to continue to push on and let God do the steering in your life and continue to write songs and music! You have a calling! Miss you bro! haha!

Eve, when i first saw you at Mardigras I have to say i was intimidated, when I heard you sing, I thought you were one of the most talented singer my ears and eyes have ever seen and heard… and till this day it has never changed . Till present when I get to know you better and have a few performances together and watching you perform, you have grown and blossomed into a better vocalist and I am sure Darren and the rest of the band are proud of you, you have came a long way. You are better than you think you are and I am always blown away by your singing.

We all have our times when we fall and it is a hard fall when we climb up higher and higher. But we pick ourselves up. Leave your insecurities, your pain, and your problems to God. He sees every tear that falls… God has a reason for everything and allows things to happen for a reason… To make us stronger when we go through the fire… Never say never to yourself and not let the Devil put a foothold in your life. Though God and with the 110% faith in God all things are possible! Do remember all the things that God has done for you and the blessings you received from the first day you get to know Him till today…

As I grow, I have come to believe that to “count your blessings” is the most important lesson of all. If we do poorly at this, all our other efforts to be happy, to earn money, to build relationships, to find meaning — all are wasted. If we count our blessings well, with gratitude & appreciation for all that He has do… you will do fine… yea?

And Eve, I thank you for getting me back on the violin.. with out you pushing me and encouraging me to play, I don’t think my dreams of ever picking up my violin again would come true. Thx again for making me believe….

Last but not least, I would like to thank PJK and the pastoral team, fellow zone leaders and cell leaders, who continue to spur me on and support me, do forgive me as I am accountable to you guys as well for the actions that I have taken. I am still learning and I am still young :D, my mistakes are unthoughtful and my actions were wrong, and I thank you that God has put you guys there and it helped me to get over my lifetime strongholds and it felt good and I felt heavy weights taken off my shoulders and felt peaceful especially during this month as i continue to serve along and dwell in His presence at home and spend lots of time alone with God and it has been refreshing and it restores and repairs me.

Thank yo all for being a part of my life, indeed it has been a roller coaster ride of a year in 09,but this year I believe we will all grow stronger and better!

Gosh.. this has been a long “essay”! Well this leads to a new year, of new beginnings, a new page, a new chapter a chance for us to start a fresh with a clean slate! I pray that God will continue to pour out His blessings and favor to all who are thirsty!

Hence this leads me to my 2010 resolutions.

My 2010 Resolutions

  1. To complete my Diploma in Advertising/ Marketing Comm at IACT College.
  2. To make a decision on when I will pursuit my degree in RMIT or AUT. As recently I have started a band (& a surprise I will reveal soon enough!) with the intention to do mission trips with church.
  3. Take MEP and other classes to better equip myself in ministry and to GROW more in my relationship with God.
  4. For real this year. To lose the pounds that has been haunting me since 2005! when I came back from Thailand I was only 65kg.. Now I packed in 30 more kg! I blame solely on Malaysian food!!
  5. Since going back to performances for the violin, i need to invest in either a mic for my violin, or just get an electric violin. Both cost me lots financially.. Do pray for me to make the wise choice.
  6. To be proactive and less laziness in everything!
  7. To groom myself to look better ;p “Handsome boy” Haha!
  8. Save money! I know.. i m an investing for resolution #5, but I am willing to strain myself and eat roti canai for every meal i eat out to save money!
  9. To improve and manage my lifestyle and be more organized in everything that I do.
  10. Strongholds are definitely still fresh even though I am just over my life time strongholds last year! I pray that I will be able to guard my heart my mind and in everything I do, to make Godly decisions…

Well.. Its pretty cliche to have perfect 10 resolutions but that all that I can think of for the past few days on drafting this blog post!

So 2010.. here I come!!!

14hrs wait…came out empty handed

Myself and a friend were waiting in for this amazing promo by Digi, where they are promoting the BlackBerry Curve 8900 for only Rm99 and RM58 per month for the BerrySmart plan.. which is darn worth it! (link here)

The problem is this… Digi should have anticipated the largeness of the crowd and hype over this along with other of its promotions, especially from it’s first 2 days of experience they should have expected a crowd for the weekend and should have sorted out a system where it is only fair for those who wait in line to be able to wait and queue..

My friend and I were the first to come at 7:45  pm to queue up and the line later grew to 20 and 30 people and naturally we were told to leave there at 10:30 since 1U was going to close.

So we came up with a system where we had a list where those who came first and those following in at later times were to put our names on a list of paper where we know who came first, as we thought it would only be fair. We waited outside behind the FlyFm stage…

The security guards told us that we had to wait for them to open at 6 am which we did.. when it reached 6 pm  we had 92 people on the list who have waited.. but all hell broke loose, as there were a bunch of guys who just ran in and caused people to get hurt.. my friend suffered the worst.. she was really the one who deserves the standing O since she first came up with the list idea and got assaulted by a guy who pushed her and she got whipped lashed and hit the back of her head and got her arms hurt and was pushed and shoved by the same guy.. wth??? He hit a girl!! I was really really proud of how though she was.. and she did well as she managed to hit the guy in the face.. and thank God there were others who pinned the guy who assaulted her to the walls and another trouble maker was also stopped by new friends that we made…

When we reached back in to the malll.. they had shutters down at the Oval… it was a first time in a long time 1U had shutters down at the oval in awhile since i work on recces and events.

We were shocked to see others there waiting as well.. i guess there were definitely over 200 people in total including those who were with us..so we just waited by the shutters and it was so packed like a can of tuna that I had to stand.. good thing my friend could have enough space to grab a seat… it was quite  scary to see her hand shake so much from adrenaline rush.. when she was smsing on her phone… after the commotion with the assault…I have really realy painful limbs rite now… even as i write this …. I am aching all over….

According to one of the promoters who were  lining up with us for friends.. she was told that the Digi people were trying to think of a solution to manage the “overwhelming response” … what in the world??? Such a big telco company and they did not anticipate and preamp the possibility of this happening… great… well done…

When the Digi people came… they came up with a decision that everyone had to disperse and get off the ground floor so that Digi can set up and open the shutters and discuss how they were to handle the situation with the security of 1U… Digi told us that they will let everyone line up when everyone dispersed from the Ground floor.. we though obviously it will take a long time because people did not disperse… some hid in the toilets behind evelyn and crabtree, some were obedient and went to the floor above.. myself we were obedient and we were outside of chatter box.. and we sent one person in consistently to check on the situation. then we a drink at Kluang station so that in case we did not hear the call from Digi..

To my shock… there was already a line waiting at the Digi shutters where there is the entrance into the queue behind the shutters, and the digi people and the security discussing in the Digi event floor area on what to do.. and the dispersing obviously was not effective as they did not get people to really disperse…

When the Digi people and the security have finished their discussion.. the Digi guy said: ” OK! the line starts here.” I was like.. what the hell???? He pointed at the line infront of him which had 30 plus people…

I was like.. wth???? people were not suppose to line up yet and there was not suppose to be a line???

We all rushed to the lines along with 200 plus other people and we were lined up pretty close enough for contention for the 44 Blackberry Curve which was the one that we wanted…

Then to my freaking shock.. the dude said.. “Priority is  DIGI CUSTOMERS FIRST” Everyone in the line were freaking shocked and angry as it did not state anywhere that Digi customers had first priority!

Shoudn’t Digi open the lines as it is where there are others who were from Maxis and Celcom, Potential NEW Customers, who are willing to trade and SWITCH to DIGI.. I have been a Maxis user for 5 years since coming back from Overseas… and I was willing to pledge my allegiance to DIGI!

I saw bunches and bunches of people leaving and I saw tears streaming down this lady and she mumbled that it was not fair that she lined up for over 10 hrs and being treated like this .. what customer service is this??

TO make matters worse….. My 2 friends, one who came in the morning.. were in front of me, one was a digi customer for 11 years and he was so he was happy and my other friend who was with me for 14 hrs, were right behind 3 people who went in and when they announced that the 44 blackberries were finished!

And the guy who was in charge of the line said that we could not go in, and we could only go in to buy a HP Mini NetBook.

So they guy told us to get off the line. The Digi people were super rude not just the main guy but also his other staff..

What we found out later was that there were a few people who were blacklisted and also did not want the blackberry curve in the end… I was freaking furious! I was like.. If we were not told to get off the line.. we would have got our Blackberry! The dude freaking shooed us off and told us u can’t go in. you have to buy the HP mini then u can go in. WTH????

I found out from one of the promoter girls later that at the start of the queue for those who managed to enter beyond the shutters… that they just ticked what the people wanted… that’s how they determine what people wanted thats how they came up that 44 blackberries were finishd!

WTH??????

DIGI should have checked the phone numbers on the spot whether there were blacklisted or those who are outstanding !!

If they did that we would have been in line for the blackberry and not being freaking shooed off!

We were freaking complaining and there were others too who was complaining….

I was surprised to see my dad in 1U and i told him the torture that i went through.. and he was furious and shelled at the the digi managers (or whoever the person incharge is).  Apologies are not enough…No matter how Apologetic they try to look…  as the saying goes.. Sorry No Cure….

My friend who has been a loyal customer for 11 years, has decided to switch camp to another telco.. So Digi might have gaind more loyalty from their existing DiGi clients… BUT they definitely lost a lot of potential new Digi users the last few days… bad reputation… word of mouth does spread like a disease…

I can imagine the competitors looking at this as a big joke and a potential advantage point for them to pounce with a new promo of some sort… Wonder if it will hit the papers 2mr.. hint.  saw a journalist there… Knew he was a journalist since he was the one that talked to me!

Blogs will definately be filled with an event like this…

to view my rants on twitter to Digi Telco @Dannyboy242 click here.

For a big big company like Digi, I am really shocked at bad event management, customers treated badly by the staff and yelled at…. and did not have a system..

Bottomline is.. my friends and I should have gotten a Blackberry if they had checked the registrations at the line itself… to see if people were blacklisted or had something outstanding… 4 people were blacklisted from the line in front and 3 did not want a blackberry in the end… we were next inline right in front.. when the guyed told us to go away…

Digi’s Tweeter Bio says:

“At DiGi, your needs are at the centre of everything we do. Whoever you are, wherever you go and whatever your needs may be, we’re there for you!”

This is such a contradictory statement from Digi as myself and definitely others who did not feel that. I was not treated like Digi was there for me, and definately did not feel that customers are not the centre of everything that they do.. as evident from this ghastly nightmare of an event that happened…

I wasted my time 14hrs, I’m aching all over, I was cheated.. and thrown aside like some rubbish.. thats how Digi treat customers?

The only compensation I will settle for the least is for the BlackBerry Curve 8900 that I came for, after my friend complained. Digi is getting one for her later during the week..

I want the same …. its only fair.. for what I have been through..

Here are 2 other bloggers who also have their accounts of what happend..
