Results expected on Idol?

The Bottom 3: Matt Giraud, Michael Sarver and Scott MacIntyre

The Bottom 3: Matt Giraud, Michael Sarver and Scott MacIntyre

Wow well… I have somewhat a mix of both surprise and also expectation on who is going home from Idol *09.

From my prediction on the previous post, it’s Motown Week on Idol, I got Michael and Scott right for bottom three spot as from my observation that they were way below par from the rest of the contestants. But I was really… really… shocked on Matt Giraud, because he did really well and maybe so did the rest of the idol*09 contestants!

Michael Sarver

Michael Sarver sings out his soul!

I found this article (click here) on Michael Sarver, on what he was going to do life after idol*09, he won’t be going back to his old oil rig job, as he wants to find time to reconnect with family and also might just have a new album as he has over hundreds of songs he had writen since a teen!

Michael Sarver

Keep a look out on him! I think it won’t be the last time we will be seeing him!

it’s Motown week on Idol!

Woah! It’s Motown week on Idol! with Motown legend himself Smokey is here! Among other legends of Motown are Marvin Gaye, The Temptations and so on, basically like songs from the movie Hairspray kind of stuff!

Matt Garoud great today as usual, his version of Marvin Gaye’s classic, Let’s Get It On, was a really solid performance and he made it his own and as ‘Smokey’ said, Marvin Gaye would have been proud and happy about Matt’s own rendition on the classic. Definitely won’t be out!

This week Kris Allen surprised me! I love the song ‘How Sweet It is’ and it is one of my favourite songs of all time! And Kris did a ‘Kris’ version and I thought it was the bomb! He made it contemporary and modern! Definitely won’t be out!

Scott was ok… this week he was trying to up his tempo and he did but the song choice was really bad for him he needs to sing slower more melodious and more feel to his performances. Maybe in the bottom 3 this week.

Megan Joy was doing her thing, and the most unique contestant American Idol have seen...

Megan Joy was doing her thing, and the most unique contestant American Idol have seen...

Ok to me… Megan Scott ROCKS!!!! I was trying to find the words for her style but now I got it from this week. Her style is jazz and cabaret! Wow I think it is a really cool and fresh new style of singing. She sang really really well tonight, she was not reserved, she came out of her shell this week but as the judges said, she was all over the place and a bit messy and should sing more slower stuff.. Maybe won’t be out this week… At least I hope!

“ooh  Baby, Baby!”.. ask Kara said, it was one of the best love songs ever! And Anoop did really good and some of his notes were really sensual and it was really good and as Anoop said, he wanted to do ‘Smokey justice’, and he did! But as Kara said, which I agree totally, that he should take advantage of his great voice and next week they want to see the fun side of him! Won’t be out this week in my opinion.

Michael did an ok performance and as Simon said that he was like screaming and shouting and not worthy of winning! As the song he sang was about begging a woman to stay and not leave. I think he might have not have done so… As Smokey said, he has a big voice and should use it to his advantage! And Paula got booed! This is like the first time she got booed for saying that ‘it was very lounge Vegas’. Bottom 3 I think, but I hope he is not out! But as Michael said, he was being true to himself, his style, and he is already ‘happy to be in top 10 of the greatest show in the world’ so I respect that and also as what Ryan said, and I agree, that he should ‘ take advantage of what the judges said and improve.’

Lil’ was fresh and like a classic song for the first time and she owned it! These are words of what Paula said and I agree, but today she was ‘save’, she was ok, she maybe bottom 3 as well. She did not do her best this week, it was very rushy as what Simon said, and also it was like ‘a tribute to those artist’.

Adam Lambert styles his new 'Elvis' hair do.. or Zac from High School Musical

Adam Lambert styles his new 'Elvis' hair do.. or Zac from High School Musical

Wow Adam Lambert was soo good today! My gosh! It was a totally different side to him! As Smokey said, it was a sweet and tender side of the song and a totally creative and different and deserved a standing ovation which was what he got today from Smokey himself and also Kara! He is an exciting contestant. And as Simon said “I’m going to disagree with Kara tonight, as it was the BEST performance tonight!” He is ‘not just a cool indie rocker, he showed what he can do tonight, those sweet tender moments and he can show off his forceto’ as what Randy said. All I can say is he is really good and will definitely 100% staying for next week!

Danny Gokey gave a 'First Class' performance as always

Danny Gokey gave a 'First Class' performance as always

Danny Gokey’s version of ‘Get Ready’, was really fun and hip and modern…. Sort of reminded me of Solange Knowles’s ‘SandcastleDisco’ for some reason. He is always giving a 100% 1st class performance. Full of fun and excitement! I am also still a Danny Gokey fan and he is still my personal choice of being a finalist for American Idol this year and Oh so not leaving American Idol this week!

Allison Iraheta rocks the crowd!

Allison Iraheta rocks the crowd!

Allison’s version of ‘Papa was a rolling stone’ has totally increased my respect for her cause its like a Motown version but at the same time she made it bluesy rock! Definitely she is the front runner for the girls! And she is 16 years old !! 16! She is amazing and as Kara said, ‘this must be from God!

It’s hard for me really… to say my choice of bottom 3 because they are all incredible as Smokey said.

Michael, Scott and lil’ for me will be the bottom 3 this week…

I will put up the picts for this post as soon as i get home from band practice… I’m late!

Acceptable to go from jobless to topless?

I find that when it comes to a time of desperate need, we as humans would be willing to do the extra mile to make something work and solve a problem. Life’s all about sacrifices and compromises.

It is a starting trend that women professionals and degree holders,white- collar workers who are struggling to make ends meet has resorted to being a stripper at a bar,  appear in adult entertainment films &  magazines, as it is an easy outlet to fast cash and flexible work hours.

From professional to professional stripper?

From professional to professional stripper?

I guess people are becoming more open minded nowadays, where strip clubs, prostitution and X-rated films and the adult industry are a big no no, now the world is changing, we are in economical crisis, secure jobs and money is hard to find, has resorted what people are willing to do to make ends meet.

I don’t wanna summarize the whole article so .. below is the link to the article from MSN news. It also appeared on the Star Newspaper today.

I am really emo now… My favourite female singer this season is out… But I bet she will get a recording contract I am sure!

Sigh… I can’t believe it.. America made the wrong choice….

I don’t blame the judges for not using their ‘Save’, where they can save one contestants through out the season if they do not think that the contestants should be kicked out, as the contestants this year is so much better than the season before…

Alexis I will miss you! I’m still your BIGGEST FAN!. From my heart and also literaly your biggest fan! 😀

Oh my! What a week for Idol!

This week American Idol contestants are different from last week!

As last week I blogged that my personal favorite to be on top last week was Adam and & Alexis! (link here)

Adam did a weird rendition of a country song and made it like… some arabic-country weird song! As Simon Cowell put it… “It’ was rubbish!”

I happen to agree with Simon totally!

Alexis’ did not appeal so much this week either.. I would say that she did better last week… As Kara said that she misses the dirty side of Alexis, and I agree as well that she should have same like “Before He Cheats” or as I would put it “angry songs”

Others that didn’t make an impact to me, were Allison Irahata, Lil Rounds and Kris Allen. Not good enough compared with the rest.

This week my favorite contestants are Matt Giraud, Megan Joy and (probably my favorite to win this season) Danny Gokey!

Matt Giraud’s version was really great! His voice really sounds like Gavin Degraw with that soulful rock voice but miles better!

Matt Giraud performs

Matt Giraud performs Carrie Underwood's "So Small"

Matt Giraud’s rendition of “So Small” was really awesome as he made the song his own with his soulful bluesy rock voice he can be one of the top contenders to be the next American Idol.

As quoting from what kara and Simon said:

“You’re an artist, you’re a true talent, your heart pours on that piano, you worked the dynamics of that song … amazing,” Kara said. Simon added that he didn’t think Giraud has gotten enough credit for his vocals to date and thought that although he’s similar to Gokey, he outsang the competition and gave one of the night’s best performances.

Megan Joy Corkrey performs "Walkin' After Midnight" by Patsy Cline

Megan has always been a peculiar and interesting contestant in this year’s season of American Idol. She has this Amy Winehouse, Duffy feel to her style of singing which I think it’s brilliant and her rendition of ‘Walkin’ After Midnight’ of a country style with her own twist of jazz witht hte 1940s big band or Frank Sinatra or Nat King Cole style of vocals. Very Nice! And her out fit and hair do this week is fab!!

Danny performs "Jesus Take The Wheel" by Carrie Underwood

Danny Gokey performs "Jesus Take The Wheel" by Carrie Underwood

Wow! Despite having trouble during the rehearsal with the tempo of the song and lyric phrasing.. he still came out with flying colors and this performance really does mark this true talent and of a different level than the rest especially when he applied “his signature soulful vocals to the car-crash ballad, coming out tentative at first and then exploding into the chorus with his powerhouse gospel-edged wails.”

Danny Gokey is my official favourite for the season finalist! Despite what Simon Cowell says about his fashion… Geess… talk about listening to Simon about fashion when he virtually wears the same jeans and dark grey shirt all the time just like Steve Jobs as well.. Oops! hehe…

“When you hit your stride, it’s like none other,” Kara said, though she called the front end unspectacular. Paula disagreed, saying Gokey hit the right balance. Despite their ugly fight earlier in the night, Simon agreed with Paula, saying he liked the shading, but hated Gokey’s white “polar expedition” jacket.

Surprise of the week: Anoop Desai

Anoop Desai performs "Always On My Mind" by Willie Nelson

Anoop Desai performs "Always On My Mind" by Willie Nelson

My first impression was that he was just an ordinary singer, an average “joe” kareoke singer. But this week he did blow me way and he was impressive especially when he was not familiar with Country style at all! But he did pull it off! And I am sure he won’t be in the bottom three this week! He has more to come I hope!

“Anoop is back!” Paula said, praising Desai’s interpretation of the tune after his failure to capture the magic during Michael Jackson week. Simon praised him for going from “zero to hero,” with one of his favorite performances of the night, even going so far as to take back last week’s criticism that Desai didn’t deserve to be in the competition.
